NetScaler Team
Encounter virtualization and cloud technologies, clustering, and on demand services.
What began as a first-generation load balancer has now evolved into a multi-featured, comprehensive application delivery solution. What started as a team of five has now grown in to a squad of over 50 people. And we have retained key contributors. At Citrix R&D India, tenure and loyalty are respected and valued. Engineers have become managers and senior managers to take charge of their own teams.
Vijay Ratnam: Empowerment is at the engineer level; and managers are enablers. It makes people want to be here.
Here, we work on the same products and technologies as our counterpart in the US. Functioning as one team across geographies, the environment is merit-oriented and non-hierarchical. There’s challenge and excitement in being given the opportunity to make a difference to the big players, like Google and Yahoo. If a developer develops a feature for a release, then the recognition is immediate. The team shares in the joy from the fact that you have delivered a solution and made a difference to the bottom line, and the client.
Raghunandan: NetScaler as a technology is an overlap between operating systems and computer networking. You’re addressing, solving and improving the fundamentals of computing. How much more exciting can it get?
Citrix is truly global with visibility, access to the local market, and diversified, distributed centres. Very few companies have the apex of product development in their distributed development centres. At Citrix R&D India, we’re not just restricted to design, development, testing, support. Understanding requirements and devising strategy means greater accountability, a higher sense of ownership, and therefore greater efficiency. More than 50 per cent of the work is done here. There is revenue ownership, opportunity for collaborative dialogue and interactions to offer solutions, rather than individual products.
