Citrix Access Gateway™ is a secure application access solution that provides users’ remote access from anywhere. It gives IT administrators a single point to manage access control and limit actions within sessions based on both user identity and the endpoint device, providing better application security, data protection, and compliance management.

Citrix Access Gateway™ is the first SSL VPN built to deliver both secure virtual desktops and applications. It also provides standard SSL VPN features to ensure easy access to files, email, and other resources regardless of the user’s location.

The Technology: An Overview

SmartAccess technology allows administrators to manage access control and set policies that define acceptable actions based on user identity and the configuration of the endpoint device. For example, a user may have full access (read, save locally, print, etc.) to a set of files when utilizing her office PC, but may be restricted to read-only access in less secure remote access scenarios such as connecting through an unrecognized kiosk device.

Users – Access Gateway was designed from the ground up to provide an excellent user experience. Single point of secure remote access and single sign-on capabilities minimize the number of authentication prompts, creating easy navigation to all key resources–-including Windows® applications (delivered with or without Citrix XenApp™), desktops delivered by Citrix XenDesktop™, e-mail, file shares, internal Web applications and more. Additionally, always-on access ensures sessions are automatically reconnected after losing a network connection or roaming between access points.

Administrators – Access Gateway provides fast, easy and cost-effective deployment and ongoing management. The client is Web-deployed and is automatically updated without user intervention, and management tools are highly intuitive. Organizations can easily provide mobile and remote users with desk-like access from any location, without the cost and complexity of installing, configuring, updating and supporting client software on each device.
